Flourish Centre, Glasgow
The Flourish Centre is an ambitious idea from a broad coalition of arts and health professionals in Glasgow to create a purpose-designed space for arts therapies to take place. We're delighted to be working with award-winning architectural partners Page\Park on this project - they have such terrific experience and flair, and their Maggie's Centre in Glasgow is a wonderful example of their work in this field.

National Youth Companies
Creative Services were delighted to work with Scotland’s key national youth companies to consider areas of joint strategy and planning. Clients included Scottish Youth Theatre, YDance, National Youth Orchestras of Scotland, and the National Youth Choir of Scotland.

Radio Scotland Homecoming Programme

See also A'Chraobh for details of Highland Homecoming projects which Creative Services were instrumental in developing.

Creative Services were delighted to work with Eden Court Theatre, The Highland Council and plan B dance company to produce a Project Plan and funding application for 'Body Currents' - a season of dance to be staged on water in four spectacular landscapes throughout the Highlands in 2010.

Convention of the Highlands and Islands
Creative Services were invited by the Scottish Government to facilitate the Convention of the Highlands and Islands in Inverness. We have worked with members of the CoHI team to develop a new format and approach for these events.

Highland Promise
The Highland Promise was an innovative part of the Highland 2007 Year of Culture which enabled young people to choose from a menu of cultural activity throughout the year. We assessed the impact on communities, individuals and schools of the Highland Promise in Badenoch and Strathspey for Highland Council.

Cultural Pathfinder Project for Fife
Creative Services were the lead external consultant working with Fife Council on their massive, ambitious, and exciting approach to developing cultural entitlements which included a terrific, varied public consultation programme.

A Strategy for Edinburgh's Cultural Facilities
Once again we joined forces with our strategic partner, PMP Consulting - the UK's largest leisure consultancy, to undertake an extensive assessment of the Scottish capital's cultural facilities and prepared a prioritised strategy for future provision - from theatres and halls, to the national institutions and the Ross bandstand. A major piece of work for one of the world's great cities.

Shaping the Future of Cork's Crawford Gallery
The Crawford became the first institution outside Dublin to receive national status last year. Creative Services teamed up with regular partners, Genesis, to work with the management and Board of the Gallery to help plan and implement its transition to the new status.

A Cultural Strategy for Dundee
Dundee's previous 2 cultural strategies have led to a renaissance of activity in the city. We worked with a Steering Group of key cultural partners in Dundee to prepare the next 5 year strategy that aims to make a step change for cultural provision in the city.

Fort William Health Centre Public Art Project
In the summer of 2008 we were commissioned by the Fort William Medical Centre Project Ltd to create a new website to provide a record of the Public Art Project within the new Fort William Health Centre which opened in May 2007. It is hoped that the website, called A Design For Health will be used as a source of information for similar projects, and will be added to and developed through users' comments and suggestions.

Aberdeen Performing Arts
Aberdeen Performing Arts are one of the success stories of recent times in Scotland's cultural life - they have successfully taken over the running of several key facilities in Aberdeen from the local authority and provided year on year improvement in audiences and finances. We were delighted to facilitate a 2-day Board and Staff residential session that laid the foundations for the next 4 years of the company's development.

A Business Plan for Feis Academy
A project which Creative Services have been steering through over the last year to encourage the creation of a Feis Academy in Scotland is closer to success following the announcement that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by RSAMD, the UHI Millennium Institute and Feisean nan Gaidheal to make it become a reality. At a meeting with the Minister for Culture earlier this year, the key partners presented a Business Plan that had been co-ordinated by Creative Services. We are hopeful this project will come to fruition in 2009.

Developing Access to Culture in the Western Isles
As part of a small team, we looked at new ways of engaging the public in choosing what and how cultural activity should be delivered in their area. Our partners were the wonderful Fablevision company, specialists in cultural planning based in Glasgow, and the local Theatre Hebrides. An extensive programme of public consultation through drama and storytelling was undertaken. To find out more about the project, visit the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar website.

Leisure Facilities in Inverclyde
This assessment of leisure facilities in Greenock, Gourock and Port Glasgow - led by PMP - provided a strategy for investment over the next 5-10 years for the local authority. An area with many challenges regarding diversity of social background and proximity to a major city and facility provider, Glasgow.

An Events Strategy for North East England
Following on from last year's successful partnership with Edinburgh-based SQW we joined up again to help develop a major events strategy post 2010 for One North East, Culture 10 and the many providers of events in the Newcastle-Gateshead catchment area.

Pathfinder Project - Cultural Entitlements in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire
Creative Services formed part of a team led by Genesis Consulting that undertook the Scottish Executive's Pathfinder Project into Cultural Entitlements. The team were appointed by the joint steering group from Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils.

Transforming Community Services - Scottish Borders Council
A tremendous opportunity within one of Scotland's rural local authorities to explore new and innovative ways of delivering cultural provision in the area, then reflecting this within the local government structure. The change process has to keep a large and geographically disparate staff engaged as well as ensuring other key stakeholders at regional and national level are involved and contributing.

Strategic Advice - Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama
Not just a privilege but a genuine pleasure to work with such a forward-thinking national institution looking to break down the barriers and preconceptions of conservatoire education. The RSAMD has taken massive steps along a change agenda process stretching back several years, but accelerating now with the buy-in of students, staff and public and private funders. This throws up all sorts of ongoing challenges regarding the internal structure of the Academy and, importantly, its engagement with funders.

New radio drama - Radio Scotland
Working in collaboration with the great indie producer, Neon Productions, we produced the script for a new one-off drama based on an imagined discussion between Neil Gow and Robert Burns - and a possibility of further similar commissions. Broadcast in January 2008.
